In my Greylands OSE campaign the game began without a Cleric class available to the players. Instead I used the Acolyte from issue #1 of Carcass Crawler as the default "Fighting type, but with magical abilities" role.
However, through gameplay (and a good amount of gold pieces) the players have managed to get the temple of the Most Blessed and Heavenly Sun Lord back in town restored and have sent messages for some more priests to come and restore the faith to this grey and forgotten border town.
With this Cleric class I wanted to do something different, as I don't think I want to just have something that simply covers the same ground as the Acolyte. As such here is my take on the Cleric class (or really more of a Priest class in this case) as they appear in The Greylands.
Cleric
Requirements: Minimum CHA 9Prime Requisite: 13-15 WIS: +5%; 16-18 WIS: +10%
Hit Dice: d4
Max Level: 14
Armor: Gambeson, shields
Weapons: Dagger, Staff, Club, Firearms
Languages: Common
Call Light
Starting at 3rd level, once per day a Cleric can create Light as per the spell of the same name. This does not count towards their daily spell limit.
Divine Miracles
Starting at level 5 the Cleric may pray to the Sun Lord for a miracle or divine aid. The exact specifics of what is requested are determined between the player and the referee, and the whole prayer takes up 1 turn in which the Cleric can not be interrupted by anything or else the attempt fails. If uninterrupted, the Cleric must roll a number of d6 as determined by the referee and roll under their CHA score to succeed at drawing the Sun Lord’s attention.
If they succeed the Sun Lord turns his benevolent gaze towards the Cleric and the miracle happens. Any further attempts to pray for a miracle for one entire solar month (30 days) will incur disfavor and strip the Cleric of their magic and abilities until they undertake penance. A prayer for a miracle may be attempted once per day until it succeeds.
Once a miracle has occurred, the Cleric must undergo a task or quest for the Sun Lord in reverence, to be completed within one solar month. Until a miracle has been repaid in such a manner, no new ones may occur.
Spellcasting: Clerics of the Sun Lord can cast spells spells starting at 1st level and do not need to memorize spells, instead getting that many spell slots per day to use as they wish from the appropriate spell level.
